Medical Disclaimer
Last updated: June 18, 2026
This Medical Disclaimer contains important information for healthcare professionals using the CrLage Calculator tools in clinical practice.
Clinical Decision-Making
CrLage Calculator provides reference tools to assist healthcare professionals in estimating gestational age from crown-rump length measurements. The calculations are based on published formulas and population-derived reference data. They do not replace independent clinical judgment.
Clinicians must consider the following factors when using these tools:
- The Robinson and Fleming formula was derived from a specific study population and may not be universally applicable to all patient demographics
- Individual anatomical variation, fetal position, and measurement technique can affect CRL values
- First-trimester dating should incorporate multiple parameters when available, not CRL alone
- Ultrasound measurement quality depends on operator skill, equipment calibration, and patient factors
Formula Limitations
The formula GA (days) = 8.052 × √(CRL) + 23.73 (Robinson & Fleming, 1975) is valid for CRL measurements between 7 mm and 95 mm, corresponding approximately to 6–14 weeks of gestation. Results outside this range should be interpreted with caution, and alternative dating methods should be considered.
The formula provides an estimate, not an exact measurement. Published accuracy ranges suggest a margin of error of approximately ±3–5 days in the first trimester. This variability increases with gestational age and with measurements at the extremes of the valid range.
Not a Diagnostic Tool
CrLage Calculator tools are not diagnostic devices. They do not detect, diagnose, or predict chromosomal abnormalities, congenital anomalies, pregnancy complications, or any other medical condition. Gestational age estimation is one component of comprehensive prenatal assessment.
Decisions regarding pregnancy dating, timing of screening tests, induction of labor, or any other clinical intervention must be made by qualified healthcare professionals in accordance with applicable guidelines and standards of care.
No Warranty of Clinical Utility
We make no warranty, express or implied, regarding the clinical utility, diagnostic accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose of the tools provided on this Site. Published accuracy data from the original research may not reflect performance in all clinical settings or patient populations.
